Karen Yi, PA-C
Karen Yi is an experienced and credentialed Physician Assistant, specializing in orthopedic care at Pacific Orthopaedic Associates (POA). Her comprehensive approach to patient care includes clinic consultations, hospital rounds, and surgical assistance. Karen's ability to communicate fluently in Cantonese and Mandarin enables her to provide high-quality care to a diverse patient population.
Raised in Alhambra, California, Karen completed her higher education at the University of California, San Diego, earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry/Biochemistry with Provost Honors. She continued her academic journey at Western University of Health Services, obtaining a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. During her tenure there, she was honored with a National Health Services Corp (NHSC) scholarship, recognizing her dedication to serving in underserved communities.
Karen discovered her passion for orthopedics during a clinical rotation at POA. After her graduation, she served as a family medicine provider in Visalia, California, fulfilling her NHSC scholarship commitment. In 2015, Karen returned to POA to begin her career as a general orthopedic PA, where she deepened her expertise in the field. In 2019, she moved to Boston and had the opportunity to work with world-renowned shoulder surgeons at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she engaged in advanced research and innovation in shoulder diagnosis and management.
In 2023, Karen returned to Los Angeles and rejoined POA, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience to benefit the Greater Los Angeles community. Her commitment to excellence in her field is further evidenced by her active membership in the American Academy of Physician Assistants, which keeps her abreast of the latest medical developments.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Karen's life is enriched by her Christian faith. As a devoted wife and mother, she treasures the time spent with her family and friends, finding balance and fulfillment outside of her career.
